Speakers Series Luncheon

Thank you for joining us!

On Wednesday, March 5, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Manchester (BGCGM) hosted their semi-annual Speaker Series Luncheon, in partnership with the Lantos Foundation for Human Rights & Justice. This session featured former NBA player and human rights activist Enes Kanter Freedom.

Enes spent time with guests prior to sharing his story about his childhood in Turkey, coming to America, joining the NBA, and ultimately being a voice for those who are not able to speak for themselves. He sacrificed his NBA career for his freedom of speech, as it was important for him to set an example for others about the power we have as American citizens. Enes, who added the surname “Freedom” upon becoming an American citizen in 2021, has paid a high price for his activism.

Following this inspirational and powerful event, he hosted a basketball camp for roughly 50 BGCGM tweens and teens. His ability to connect with the kids is remarkable, and his mission to “bring kids together to play basketball – regardless of backgrounds, race, religion, color – to learn how to play, share the ball, and communicate,” is truly amazing, as “kids are our future!”

A special thank you to Enes Kanter Freedom, the Lantos Foundation for Human Rights & Justice, and our sponsor, Cohen Investment Advisors, for an amazing event.

Stay tuned for details of our next Speaker Series Luncheon event in the fall!
